Johnny Guitar's music shop opened for business in September of 2007. They had a web site, of course, but being a new business the traffic started out extremely low, with about 25 visitors a week, and most of those were friends and family members checking out the web site. For anyone else to find them in search engines, they had to already know they existed.
Raindearmedia first created an optimization and internet advertising strategy to help get an immediate boost. After only two months from deployment, site traffic was up over 1500% a month. That was a good start, but we knew we could do better and also eliminate the advertising costs altogether.
In 2009 we upgraded and enhanced Johnny Guitar's web site, using Drupal as a Content Management System, and Ubercart's eCommerce modules for Drupal. We tracked the site's performance with analytics and incorporated self-sustaining SEO techniques so that whenever site content was added or modified, it notified search engines to help encourage quicker re-indexing of the site's key content.
The results are that Johnny Guitar's traffic continues to grow, all organically. Local and prospective walk-in customers quickly find the business when seeking the services they want (like "guitar lessons" for instance), and distant customers from the USA and around the globe find this Mom and Pop business based on actual products in their inventory.
Not only have there been significant improvements in performance, but now it's easier than ever for Johnny's staff to keep the site up to date, in some cases, "fresh daily!", and to reach out to their loyal following.
